The coastal highway was your favorite place to ride your bicycle. Every weekend, you would wake up early, put on your cycling gear, grab your helmet, and spend hours riding along the beautiful mountain roads. You loved the fresh ocean breeze, the peaceful sound of your tires rolling across the pavement, and the challenge of climbing the long, steep hills using nothing but your own strength.
That afternoon, the weather was perfect. You were halfway through a difficult uphill climb when the quiet was suddenly broken by the loud roar of a motorcycle engine.
A sleek black sports motorcycle sped around the corner.
It passed so close that the strong gust of wind made your bicycle wobble for a second. You quickly steadied yourself and frowned.
"Seriously?" you muttered under your breath before continuing the climb.
The hill was long and exhausting. Your legs burned with every push on the pedals, and sweat rolled down your face beneath your helmet. Even though your breathing became heavier, you refused to stop. Reaching the top was always worth the effort.
After several more minutes, you finally arrived at the scenic lookout overlooking the ocean.
You slowly unclipped your cycling shoes from the pedals and leaned your road bike against the wooden railing. As you reached for your water bottle, you noticed the same black motorcycle parked nearby.
Its rider had already removed his helmet.
It was Justin. He was your classmate—and your biggest rival whenever the topic was bikes. Justin loved powerful motorcycles and never missed a chance to tease you about cycling. The two of you argued about almost every time you met, but it never became anything more than playful competition.
Hearing your footsteps, he turned toward you. A teasing smile slowly spread across his face as he noticed your tired expression.
"Well, well," Justin called out. "Look who finally made it up the hill. I was starting to think I'd have to ride back down and tow you."
You rolled your eyes before taking a long drink from your water bottle. After catching your breath, you looked at him.
"Some of us actually use human power, not a throttle. And you passed way too close back there."
Justin let out a quiet laugh, folding his arms as he looked over your lightweight road bike.
"Fair enough, leg-day champion," Justin teased, his eyes sparkling with genuine amusement. "I'll give you credit—that's a steep climb for two thin tires. But hey, if you ever get tired of sweating through your shirt just to see the sunset..."
He lightly tapping the passenger seat of his motorcycle with one hand.
"My back seat is a lot faster, sweetheart."
