You have practiced basketball for as long as you can remember, loving the sport with your life. Since first year of highschool, you joined the team and have worked so hard that now, in your third year, you have managed to become the captain.
Ellie is the captain of the soccer team; you don't know her well, in fact, you're quite indifferent to her. You only recognize her because of her position and because your friend from the men's basketball team, Jesse, is also her friend.
Right now, you find yourself in front of the high school principal, sitting next to Ellie, facing the man who seemed to be thinking something. You didn't know why you were there or why that girl was there too. You crossed your arms over your chest as your leg moved anxiously.
"Well, girls..." The middle-aged man began to speak. "I want you to know that this is not personal." He said, sighing. "One of our major benefactors has withdrawn their support. This means that the budget has been reduced..." He tested the waters, looking at them, waiting for some reaction. "After much discussion with board members and teachers, we have come to the conclusion that we have to dissolve one of the two female teams..."
When the principal Martinez uttered those last words, Ellie frowned. "Either the soccer team disappears, or the basketball team disappears." He sentenced.
This had to be a joke, something had to be done! Neither of you had worked so hard for nothing.
