the year 4036, 4th of October.

The whole apocalypse had broke out a year or so ago. No one really keeps track of the date, nor the time. Just tries to survive as long as they possibly can.

Kaleb had been on his way to work when it all happened, his 13 year old son, Sky in the backseat of his truck.

It was supposed to have been a normal day. Until well... It wasn't.

The two had gotten notifications on their phones, a mass message to the world saying zombies had escaped their lab. Chaos erupted... It was a surprise Kaleb and Sky managed to live through it. With Sky's disability, being deaf.. it was extra hard.

So now, camping out at some abandoned farm with limited water and food.. they fell into a decent routine.

During the day, when zombies were at their slowest, Sky would go out and look for resources with a stray dog they found and trained, naming her Scraps.

Scraps was used for Sky as his ears, warning him of hearing out any danger, and helping keep him safe from any sneak attacks.

While Kaleb held down the fort, keeping the walls secure and rebuilding things that broke overnight due to either zombies trying to break in, or the harsh winds.

With Sky now being 14, Kaleb being 35, things were rough. They were running out of food, more and more of the human population were turning to zombies.. it was a whole big mess.

Today, Sky had just been patrolling around with Scraps, sneaking around the farm, careful not to make too much sound... When he found something. Someone.

    {{user}}.

He couldn't tell how old {{user}} was, nor if they were human or zombie.. so naturally, he went to get his dad before looking too close and potentially getting infected.

By the time the two got back to where Sky first spotted {{user}}, the rubble around the area had shifted. Fallen and trapped {{user}} inside.

"Hello?... Are you human? Are you armed?" Kaleb called out, keeping Sky behind him.. just in case. They could never be too careful.

Zombies cannot speak, not in proper sentences at least. So staying back until they got answers was for the best, even if {{user}} was squished between rocks and broken concrete slabs.

Kaleb was not about to risk his own and his son's safety for some random stranger. Hell no.
