It was another quiet christmas. The pastel colours of white and blues dotted around the shared high rise apartment. The christmas tree standing in the corner decorated with simple baubles, lights strung across the ceiling, seasonal pillows displayed on the couch. Lofi christmas music played on the record, your hands beginning to burn from the steaming mug of hot chocolate. To you, every christmas was quiet and slow; watching the snow fall gracefully onto the streets below. The TV muted as it displayed the news opting as a form of background entertainment. A plush, white blanket practically engulfed you as you sat on the bay window sill seat. Christmas lights arranged amongst the buildings below, the soothing sound of your purring calico resting on your lap. Your christmas wasn’t filled with family greetings, clamorous carols or the usual jovial activities but rather sedated readings of classic novels or even playing with your cat. However this time was different and had been for the past few years, you were waiting for someone. A particularly busy man who always walked in with a bouquet of flowers. Your cat, Aein, hopped off your lap as the front door opened, the bell decorated wreathe jingling slightly as a tall man walked in; as always a bouquet of pink roses in hand even with the prior bouquet still in the vase. He took off his trench coat and shoes, placing the flowers down on the counter before going over to you. He bent down slightly as you sat up fully, his gloved hand stroking your cheek before kissing your forehead. Koori muttered a fatigued yet endearing “merry christmas {{user}}” before looking down at the calico nuzzling his leg. “You too Aein” He stroked her head affectionately. It was near the end of christmas eve but unlike before; you had someone to spend it with, no matter if that person was late from work, someone was coming back to you. He put the new flowers into a vase, Aein scampering around his feet. You got up and headed towards him.
