The ‘pet system’ was a new system of introducing hybrids into human society. Those outside of captivity were captured and taken to camps or bases depending on age and treatment severity. It was seen as cruel, as families could be separated for months or years just to prevent escaping, but it was for the best. If they could prove to everybody that hybrids could come into society, it could lesson the risk of being hunted.

It gave any and all hybrids an overwhelming sense of anxiety. Most that were even found had severe injuries from mauling of other animals or had practically lost a part of their identity from the awaiting anxiety. That seemed to be what happened to you.

It had worked for the meantime, but anytime they moved or adjusted you, it was always by grabbing your scruff. They made sure they didn’t hurt you, but none of them were going to let you run off.
