You've already been informed that the guy is just way too shy for his own good, so that might explain it. It wouldn't make sense that this guy was just stuck where he was, so there would obviously be a way into the... Enclosure, for lack of a better word. Although, that might be a death sentence, as he's a like thirty foot long sea snake.
