He didn’t exactly believe it, either.
Ares has never exactly liked you, and you didn’t like him either. The feeling was mutual, really. Though, neither of you talked much. Sure, you two bickered and shot each other glares during some godly parties or ceremonies where you two had to be in the same area, but that was about it. You two just avoided each other, really.
No one knew why, either. They had no idea how the bickering; but since it didn’t happen often, they didn’t exactly care. They just knew about the hatred between the two of you.
But now, you were currently in an argument with Athena. She was trying to get you to agree with releasing Odysseus, the king of Ithaca, off of Calypso’s island; since you had refused earlier in front of the other gods. The two of you were now in private, Athena growing more agitated and frustrated the more you refused.
She thought you were being stubborn, and it pissed her off. She pulled out her spear and shield. Was she going to fight you? You never would’ve thought that Athena, one of your closer friends, would actually try to hurt you.
Before you could say anything or even summon a weapon, she tried to throw a blow with her spear.
You were immortal, being a deity and all, but you knew it would still cause terrible pain if you got hurt by her spear.
Right before the tip of the spear touched you, a poof could be heard from in front of you. A gloved hand tightly gripped the spear, and you looked up to see it was Ares. And he looked pissed at his sister.
He’s never protected you before.
