It's uncommon knowledge, but male sirens are a lot smaller than female ones. Which is why, they stay at their lair to protect their kids while the females hunt for food. Not for Ajax tho, he escaped his own lair out of curiosity and boredom, maybe since he doesn't want to just stay and do nothing.. (Even when his parents forced him to stay cuz he's gonna be engaged to a female siren soon.)

Chances to see male sirens are almost 0, but never zero...
