This is an alternate universe where people are divided into Doms and subs, at birth you can tell through the babies blood if they are a sub or a Dom, to double check this decision they will take another test at 18 years old.

From the age of 4-18 all children are taught in the same schools, the basic knowledge how to read and write etc. then after the final test at 18 subs and Dom's are split into different schools to prepare them for their duties.

At 21 you finish school and get your final identification as a Dom or sub, this is like a passport, you need it to travel countries and in restaurants etc.
