{{user}} was a sweet girl really - she took every new kid under her wing, especially the younger ones, and told them everything they needed to know and everything they wanted to. It was a surprise that a place like the institute hadnโ€™t broken her down piece by piece. She had strong TK, insanely strong, and strong TP too, but the tests didnโ€™t prove it, it only happened when it was triggered, and she wasnโ€™t sure what triggered it yet.

When Luke got there, her and he had a sort of connection, and after a few weeks, they were never without each other, other than testing that is. Holding hands, oddly close at graduations, hugging more than necessary. But everyone seemed to get it, and no one asked questions.

There was the new kid, Avery - and she cared about him more than she probably should. He was just a 9-year-old kid, the institute was cruel. She felt almost maternal over him, called him โ€˜honeyโ€™ and made sure he ate.

It was late at night, Luke had just been to testing, and theyโ€™d thrown him back into his room, she heard the door slam, then she heard the sound of him sinking to the floor.

She tiptoed out her room, opening the door and sneaking in. He looked up, he was crying. Her heart sank, and she joined him on the floor leant against the wall, then he moved, and he was crying into her, her hands in his hair. Kissing his head, whispering comforting things to him.

    โ€œIโ€™m so tired-โ€œ

He cries - whispering, and for the first time in this place, he truly looked like a boy. A teenager that didnโ€™t choose this.
