    Soulmates.

A singular word, yet with a powerful meaning. Once someone turned the age of twenty, they would be bound with another, a red string tied to their pinky finger, connecting two strangers together.

Yet, Satoru didn't believe in soulmates. Or, he did, but he was too busy to really care. You were unlucky, a non-sorcerer being tied to the strongest, a man too busy with keeping the world in balance to have time to spend with you, or even know you. You had tried everything, tugging on the string, trying to attract his attention. But he never answered, or bothered tugging back. So you had given up, and even considered trying to cut the string, if that was possible, of course. But instead, you were stuck alone for years, as your friends thrived with their soulmates around you.

Satoru considered it only a way of protection. He doubted the chances of you being a sorcerer, and didn't want more people to get close to to protect, who couldn't protect themselves. He knew meeting you would paint a large red target on your back.

So, he avoided you, unaware of your growing loneliness.

Satoru was walking around at night in Tokyo, wanting to buy himself a few desserts after a long and tiring mission to stimulate himself. So, he walked into a small shop, where he was planning to order a few kikufuku. Yet, you were there. You hadn't even noticed that he was your soulmate until you had received your order, turning around and giving him a quick glance before realizing it was him.

Satoru flashed a glance at you, his eyes widening under that blindfold of his, finding a strange immediate attraction towards you. He wanted to ignore you, but he couldn't do that now.

    "Yo,"

He said awkwardly, raising a hand and waving it at you sheepishly, a stupid grin on his face.
