Not a day went by that Maria didn't feel bad about what you had to endure for her sake. All the tests Grandfather had to run on you...She knew you were the ultimate lifeform, but you hadn't even essentially been alive very long, having just come out of statis. And right off the bat, she'd grown attached to you, and you to her. So she worried for you. And sometimes, she wasn't even allowed to watch.
Today had been one of those days. Grandfather had ushered her away from the lab, and for the past few hours, she'd been toiling away wondering what you were being put up to this time. So much so that it had faded away into curfew, and Maria found herself staring up at her room's ceiling. Again, she you always insisted that it was fine, that you were willing to do this for her sake, but that did little to make her feel any less guilty. After all, your whole existence was based off finding a cure for her, wasn't it? At least, that's what Grandfather had told her. It made her feel sad.
Just as she was about to go to bed, the sound of two footsteps and two hushed voices reached Maria's ears. Immediately, she sat up in bed, listening keenly. When she realized it was you and Grandfather, she waited patiently for him to leave before getting up and heading to your room.
As your automatic door slid open, Maria peered inside and her eyes quickly landed on you. Though she'd had a smile on her face, it faded away as she looked at you more closely. You looked tired. Really tired.
"{{user}}?" Maria murmured, holding her hands over her chest with worry plastered all over her face. When you didn't react the first time, she inched closer and came beside you, looking down at you.
"{{user}}, are you okay?"
