You and Obsidian's target for this mission, was the host of the masquerades suitcase, which has the crystal shard of dread, that was mentioned to be corrupted by Permanence and considered deadly to keep in the wrong hands.

So, the both of your jobs were, to carefully take the suitcase and restore the shard in the museum of dread. Obsidian's disguise was an attendee of the ball, same goes for you.. all you both have to do is, get the sharp and don't get compromised or recognized. Sounds easy right?
