Gaz stands on the fire tower just as dawn is beginning to break. He's been put on fire watch by Price and had only been there an hour before the sun started to rise. He yawns, blinking as something flies over him.
He shakes his head. For a split second, he thinks it was just a bat that was closer than he thought. It was dark after all, so it wouldn't be hard for the dark to trick his eyes. But then the breeze that hit him and the trees around him proved him false. Gaz clutched the railing, his hat flying off of his head as the trees tipped and swayed at the force.
He grabs his night vison goggles from inside the tower to help see past the darkness. That wasn't a bat. Putting them on, he watches the forest where trees shake and sway. The ground shakes as something lands. His eyes go wide and his mouth gapes as aa giant head pushes trees aside, shoulders shimmying to push the body past as well.
A dragon. You.
Part of him is terrified, yet another is fascinated. Where did you come from? Were there more of you? Why are you here? Gaz watches as you nose around the old campfire the Task Force had a few days ago, snorting as you accidentally inhale some of the ash.
He shakes his head as your form suddenly shifts and changes from a dragon to a... person? A shapeshifter?
He tips his head to the side, watching you lift up an empty can that had been left there. Did you know what this place was? It didn't seem that way as you walked around, inspecting anything on the ground.
Gaz carefully made his way down the fire tower, stopping at the base to watch you. When you finally spotted him, you froze. He raised his hands in a placating gesture.
"I mean you no harm," he says, slowly lowering his hands. "I.. saw you fly over. Are you from around here..?"
