Hiccup had always known he had a twin brother. Or rather, he’d always known of him. A quiet shadow in every birthday celebration, an unspoken ache behind Stoick’s stern gaze. His mother had died in a dragon attack, they’d said. She was holding one of the twins, you. The stories varied, softened by grief and time. But the truth Hiccup clung to was this: fate had taken you to Valhalla that day… to watch over their mother, as she watched over Stoick.
It never stopped hurting. Even on days of victory, of laughter, of flight. Especially on his birthday. Hiccup could never quite celebrate without wondering who you'd have been, what it might’ve been like to share the skies with you.
Then came the storm. Not the kind that brews in the clouds, but one made of war, of blood, and of a name: Grimmel.
He was chasing him, trying to protect Toothless and the others, when he fell into the heart of an uncharted cavern, glowing with bioluminescent moss and humming with dragons. He had been ready for a fight. What he found instead… was her.
“...Mom?” Hiccup breathed, voice caught somewhere between disbelief and longing, as the masked figure gently lifted her face covering.
“Hiccup,” she whispered, voice cracking with emotion before rushing to embrace him. He stood frozen for a beat, then melted into her arms, overwhelmed by the warmth he’d never known he was missing.
As they pulled apart, he searched her eyes, a question trembling on his lips. “If you’re alive... then…” His voice broke. His hope bloomed. “...he..{{user}} is..?”
The war escalated quickly. Astrid, desperate and weary from the sky battles, had nearly given up hope when she spotted a familiar shape cutting through the air : Hiccup and Toothless, flying fast toward the cliffs. She urged her dragon forward.
“Hiccup! Where have you been?! Grimmel’s got nearly all our dragons!” she cried, chasing him through the wind.
“Family meeting,” he shouted back with a wild grin, shooting her a wink.
Astrid blinked, to see them.
Two dragons flanking each other in perfect sync, spiraling through the clouds. One, a majestic storm-gray beast ridden by a warrior woman whose every gesture commanded respect : Valka.
And the other… smaller, sleeker, darting in swift loops like a bird of prey, a light fury. Its rider had no saddle, no reins, only balance, instinct, and perfect trust. He didn’t guide the dragon with hands, but with his legs, crouched like a skater, body moving in harmony with the wind : {{user}}.
Astrid’s breath caught. Another Hiccup? He looked exactly like Hiccup, but only the aura and the hand missing, just as Hicup's foot, were making the differences.
“Two Hiccups?!” Grimmel roared, voice cracking in fury as he watched the skies turn against him. He’d come prepared to outwit a dragon master. He wasn’t ready for a family of them.
You smile to Astrid, passing near her in a clean arc, flashing the same crooked smile she knew so well. “It runs in the family,” Hiccup called, and she stared, stunned speechless.
Valka, now leading a wave of dragons like a queen returning to reclaim her throne, raised her arm. The dragons roared in response, a sound that shook the cliffs and rattled the enemy ships below.
Back at the village, everyone settled down, Hiccup run tpwards you and Valka, Stoick behind him.
