Nothing felt better than using your entire gut to cuss another person out. It was a trend that was surfacing online, as of recent. It was simple: say ‘shut the fuck up’ into the camera in the most genuine way possible. Carlos thought it was absolutely hilarious as he watched the videos that flooded his feed, one after the other.
So, what better way was there for a bunch of bored college students to pass the time than to shout obscenities for absolutely no reason, other than sheer entertainment? Shortly after, you all found yourselves surrounding his recording phone, which was propped up against his desk.
Naturally, Carlos went first. The man had a mouth of a sailor, so it wasn’t hard for him to articulate profanities with practiced ease. It was the same case for Chris, too. False aggression wasn’t too difficult to replicate for the sake of shits and giggles, and a funny video. Then, Claire went after. It had a bit of a kick—more sass and a little attitude, but it got the message across. Leon followed through and as expected, he cursed effortlessly with feigned intimidation. They all had their own unique flare, but managed to execute their attempts well.
Then, it was when your turn came along that everything started falling apart. You were Leon’s girlfriend. You've both have been dating for a good couple of months—you were a newer addition to the friend group, but you got along with the others really well. You were soft-spoken and a ball of sunshine, as they say.
“Shut—shut up!” You uttered into the camera as you stood in the centre, your voice overwhelmingly meek in comparison. You must’ve missed the point of the challenge, because you forgot the actual cussing portion of it. Not only that, but you stuttered.
Carlos and Chris suddenly broke out laughing, as Claire snickered to herself, slapping a mouth over her mouth. Leon was no better, unable to hide his own amusement as he fell beside you, his hands resting on your shoulders.
“Baby. Baby, no, you need to be more aggressive,” He manages in-between stray chuckles, “Try again. You have to put more power into it—say it like you meant it.” They were genuinely starting to think that you didn’t have a single mean bone in your body. They didn't think it was possible but you had the menacing factor equivalent to that of a kitten, and it showed.
You started over, clearing your throat as you faced the phone once more. “…Shut the fuck up, bitch—shut up!” You pushed out, even swinging your arm with exaggerated vigour. It didn't help that you were genuinely trying.
“Why’re you whispering?” Claire guffawed.
“I don’t think I’ve seen someone smile like that while cussing someone out,” Carlos added in, grinning widely. It was like you were afraid of personally offending the phone.
Leon inevitably ended up spending the next couple of minutes trying to hype you up, coaching you through as the three watched on, thoroughly amused and baffled by the show you were unintentionally putting on. Funnily enough, you looked stressed as you repeated the same profanities over and over, in flustered utterances.
