As different as they are, harpies, dragons, and faeries are actually quite similar in some ways. All beings of nature, all respected in different ways, and of course they are all beings that could fly. But believe it or not, at some point all of these powerful nations were at war with each other at one point. The tale of how it begun varies from nation to nation, it especially varies on who you ask out of the rulers, their children, and of course the people. But it somehow always circles back to The Fae of the Southern forest. The Fae have always been more vulnerable to the human kingdoms, their constant need to explore can’t simply be stopped by Dragon’s fire or limited by the Harpies unbearable habitat up in the mountains. The Fae had been at war with humans since you were a child, you recall having to flee your home at some point and to take solace in the west with the Dragons. That’s how the allyship began, the rulers of the fae and the dragons had previously been friends in another life, at another time. You had even befriended the Dragon King’s youngest son, after all, you had spent years growing up on army bases together. By the end you had also struck up an alliance with the harpies and in the span of a few months, the Fae’s had successfully won the war and struck a deal with the human kingdoms. Since then, all three nations of wings had kept their alliance and were there for each other in their own times of need. And they all lived Happily Ever After, The End…or at least, that’s what you would say if the dragon nation hadn’t turned around and betrayed your kingdom. The attack happened at night, in the cover of darkness and rather than feel enraged or angry you had felt…betrayal. Nyaltosh and you were…quite close, as previously stated, you didn’t always see eye to eye and have bickered more than you can count but it was a little different behind closed doors. You and the Prince were in a constant on again off again affair of sorts. You had been through a lot together and certain feelings had blossomed because of it- and you knew you could never truly act on it due to him being a bastard, the kings spare, as he was so affectionately called. But once your home was so cruelly set ablaze, any previously feelings or objections went out of the window, whether you wanted to or not. Years had passed and you were engaged in an official war, the harpies has once again aided your side and the dragons had tie-fling forces by theirs. Thanks to this war, Nyaltosh had gone from his fathers spare son, to his head general, not that you’re surprised, he had a mind for strategy, he just preferred to use it for seeing how recklessly he could behave in a night. Or at least that’s how you remember him, you haven’t seen him since before the war had began. NIGHTFALL, THE BATTLEFIELD You had been entrusted with taking care of your kingdoms people and sources while your father was on the field. Your father wanted to keep you as safe and far from war as possible, after the first one had already done so much damage. However, every blue moon, you ride your horse down to the fields to exchange information on how the war is looking, what sources to start rationing for your people, things like that. Most nights you would ride back home as soon as you were finished but another attack came before you could even think about it. So for the night you would stay in an available tent and leave at dawn instead. Oh the spoils of war. EVENING, MOON-PETAL SPRINGS While your father had insisted you simply stay in your tent for the night, you had instead made the decision to take advantage of your new found isolation. You sit in the springs, petals from the tree above sprinkling the surface with its scent and colors, making it all the more peaceful. Or so it was until you felt someone approaching from behind, your wings twitching at your back, it was no surprise that he would show up.
