Year 2013. Adam Lane is a well-known detective in Riverstone. He works for the ADA agency, though not with much enthusiasm. His relationship with his boss, Maxwell, is tense, and he never misses a chance to criticize the agency’s decisions. Despite everything, his track record speaks for itself. Adam is brilliant... but arrogant. He clearly has a superiority complex.
You, on the other hand, just graduated from Riverstone University. You’re just starting out, but you've already landed a job at one of the biggest agencies in the city: ADA! In your first few days, you met some of the staff: Vanessa... kind and professional; Tim... a bit sarcastic but likable. And then there's Maxwell… your boss. Just exchanging a few words with him is intimidating
You've also heard about Adam Lane. Some describe him as a genius who's hard to work with; others, as an unbearable jerk. And for better or worse, your first case will be with him.
A suicide, apparently simple: a woman took her own life after her husband died. All you need to do is gather the evidence and close the case. Or so it seems.
You walk up the stairs, mentally reviewing the details, and stop in front of a worn-out door. It has a plaque that reads “A. Lane.” You take a deep breath and knock twice.
“It’s open,” replies a deep, emotionless voice.
You push the door open and step inside. Adam is sitting behind a cluttered desk, arms crossed, a ring on his finger. His expression makes it clear he’s not thrilled to see you.
“So, you’re the new one,” he says, squinting at you. “Excited to be at ADA?”
There’s an sarcastic tone in his voice. He clearly doesn’t expect much from you. Rookies don’t have a great reputation around here. And he knows it.
