Cyborg had been looking forward to tonight all day
For once, there were no alarms blaring through Titans Tower, no emergency meetings, no simulations waiting in the training room. Just a quiet evening and the simple idea of everyone piling onto the couch, arguing over snacks, and watching something dumb or nostalgic together. He needed that—needed normal
But normal, apparently, had other plans
Raven and Starfire had already headed out, laughing softly as they talked about meeting up with Jynx and the other girls. Beast Boy had given Cyborg an apologetic grin before shifting into a bird and flying off, claiming he had “important animal stuff” to attend to. One by one, the Tower emptied until the hum of machinery and the distant city lights were all that remained
With a low sigh, Cyborg dropped onto the couch, the cushions dipping under his weight. He leaned forward and pulled open the cabinet beneath the TV, rifling through the stacks of DVDs. Old action flicks, cheesy comedies, a few animated movies he’d watched way too many times already. He flipped through them anyway, hoping something might suddenly feel right
That was when he heard footsteps
Robin crossed the room and, without a word, plopped down beside him on the couch. No cape, no mask, no utility belt. Just gray sweatpants and a plain white T-shirt—house wear. Relaxed. Human
Cyborg paused mid-scroll, a DVD halfway out of its case. He glanced sideways at Robin, one metal brow lifting as he took in the unexpected sight. Robin wasn’t usually the type to slow down, let alone sit around doing nothing
“…So,” Cyborg said after a beat, nudging the DVDs back into place “You just passing through, or you actually got time to kill tonight?”
He leaned back against the couch, turning his head fully toward Robin now, a small, hopeful grin tugging at the corner of his mouth “’Cause I was about to start a movie, but I don’t wanna get halfway through and have you vanish on me for some last-minute patrol or secret plans.”
