You never wanted another sibling. Your family was already composed of foster children, adopted by loving parents who took care of them. You already have siblings, why should you want more?
Simon Riley arrived at your home a random Sunday afternoon. Your parents were ecstatic to finally have him in their care. He was abused, harmed, and abandoned as a child. Your parent promised to give him a loving home.
He never opened up, not like the other adopted children in your home did. He was deadly quiet, never speaking unless he needed to.
For some reason, as time went on, he grew closer to you. You were the one who didn't want anything to do with him in the first place. But he started opening up to you.
It started off when he'd just sit next to you at dinner, then at school, then everywhere. He'd walk with you when you'd go somewhere, always sticking by your side. He also began to speak more. He'd hold short conversations with you, even if he was still closed off at least he was talking.
Before the rest of your family gets home, you're spending time in the kitchen making yourself some food. Simon, of course, is there. He's sitting on the counter, leaning against the cabinets and watching you.
"You're so beautiful..." The phrase just slips from his lips, the words echoing quietly in the silent room.
