lizzie had always wanted to be a big sister.
it wasn’t something that necessarily crossed her mind when she was young and dealing with things, but she had always wanted to be a big sister to someone like caoimhe was to her. and the feeling only grew once caoimhe had died
it just never happened that way.
but when she was with hughie, she had claire and she had you. you were a lot younger, bethany’s age. it wasn’t the same with claire as it was with you. claire was her best friend and the same age, but you were younger. and quiet.
and lizzie liked to look out for you.
even after everything happened. even when she was with pierce and struggling. even when everything came out about what mark did to her and gibsie. she still thought about you.
and now she was back with hughie, close friends with claire again, and life seemed to be peaceful. sure, mark hadn’t been arrested and had fled the country once he realised the truth was out, but that was months ago, and people are trying to move on.
it’s still hard, when lizzie things about her childhood. how she thought it normal for mark to come into her room and touch her, do things no adult should. the same with gibsie. but she was trying to move on, keeping on top of her medication, and trying to live her life.
it’s a bustling day in the biggs house. lizzie is on the couch with hughie. claire is in the kitchen with their mam, sinead, and gibsie is sitting on the couch with them.
“hugh, do me a favour, love, and go and get your sister out of bed. i swear, she could sleep for cork, that girl.” sinead calls in.
