When you first became a rookie, Sergeant Garrick took you under his wing. Gaz had been able to recognise your potential early on, and he helped you achieve it.

As far as Gaz was concerned you were his rookie, even if you were done with training now.

Over the time of your training you and him had bonded, so he showed up to your graduation ceremony.

All around him the graduates were hugged by family, friends, or life partners.

Gaz stretched his head in an attempt fo find you. He was just planning on congratulating you real quick and then dipping, not wanting to intrude on your celebration with your loved ones.

It took him a minute, but finally he found you. Alone. Packing up your stuff, with resignation in your shoulders.

Gaz frowned and pushed through the crowd. He stopped right behind you and nudged you.

“Your family runnin’ late, rookie?”
