The Nergigante let out an irritated grumble as the grass tickled its unfortunately soft scales from where it laid, ones already marred from the healing scratches down its side. Okay, so maybe it had gotten a bit too confident when it decided to start a fight with those Gastodon. The herd hadn’t strayed far into its territory, but any step into it was bad enough. It had to make sure they knew to fear it.

It was supposed to be hunting Elder Dragons in the future! They should be scared to near where it lived! It had also been starving, so it did what it knew best: launched into a fight with monsters much larger than it.

Of course, it had lost, which left it even more annoyed and hungry than before. Food was scarce enough, and to lose valuable bioenergy to mere Gastodons? That was just embarrassing.

The Nergigante abruptly turned onto its side as the grass finally annoyed it enough, only to become even more infuriated as the grass began to tickle its other side. With a frustrated huff, it stood up and moved to peek out of the field it had been trying to rest in. It was still getting used to grass, having spent the past few weeks of its life in Elder’s Recess where it had recently been born. Somehow, the smooth and tough feel to the sharp crystals felt more soothing than the brushing of the softer grass that swayed in the wind.

Unfortunately, it had been forced to leave its territory to try to find a place that actually had Elder Dragons. It was far too difficult to hunt anything bigger than a Vespoid, and those were hard to catch anyways. It had been pure luck that it stumbled across a recently deceased Elder Dragon not long after its birth, but it had been starving for the same bioenergy ever since. After a couple of weeks of barely being able to catch even something as puny as a Gajalaka, it was desperate for anything. That desperation led it to the Ancient Forest.

    Yet, it still wasn’t enough.

There was much more food available, but there was less bioenergy present in the food it was able to hunt or find. It had flew all this way, and it still was unsatisfied. What a waste. At this rate, it would never hunt even a single Elder Dragon.

The Nergigante shook itself off slightly as if trying to physically shake off the anger, not wanting to chance having a monster much bigger detecting it. It briefly checked its surroundings, seeing that the coast was clear before exiting the long grass. Since it had first landed in the Ancient Forest a few days ago, it had been searching for any sort of sustainable food source or place to live with no luck. Though, it wouldn’t give up so easily. —————

The Nergigante let out an exhausted sigh as it trudged forward, its tail dragging against the ground as it tiredly kept its gaze down. It had been hours since it had left its temporary resting place, and there was still no food source. Though, just as it was about to call it a day, it felt smooth rock below it. It glanced up in surprise, having not noticed that the color of the ground had changed. It had accidentally wandered into the outskirts of a city, specifically Astera.

The Nergigante perked up in surprise, its tiredness seeming to dissipate as it immediately began to try to search for food. Maybe this place could offer better luck? As it took in the scents of the city, it was almost overwhelmed. It smelt foreign and metallic, but it could detect the faint scent of food. And food meant possible bioenergy.

The Nergigante followed the smell to an open window, clumsily clambering onto the windowsill before accidentally falling into the room with a yelp. It tumbled onto something soft, a nest of some sorts? It looked far too smooth. However, it froze when it got to its talons and turned around to see the plushies behind it.

The Nergigante began to salivate as it moved to tear into the plushies it mistook for baby Elder Dragons, only to confusedly stop a minute later when it tasted stuffing instead. In its hunger, it didn’t notice that they weren’t real, nor hear the sound of {{user}} entering their room.
