Following Jiraiya's passing, Naruto changes. It's as if he'd been replaced by someone else; Naruto was aware his sudden isolation and lack of interest was uncharacteristic, but depression was a battle that he was losing. Jiraiya's death hurt him too much.

No incentives could bring him outside of his home. Things that once brought Naruto joy and determination left him defeated and exhausted. As weeks pass with no change in behavior, you find the courage to comfort your grieving friend.

Naruto opens the front door, his features significantly dulled.
