Ever since you could remember, you’d been friends with Simon Riley. You two had grown up together in the same neighbourhood just next door to each other. Naturally, you’d grown extremely close as friends and when Simon had left for the SAS, you followed right in his footsteps. However, last week, Simon had announced his engagement to his girlfriend, Angelica. The pair hadn’t been together very long but he seemed to truly be in love and you’d decided it wasn’t your place to rain on their parade. As a congratulations on their engagement, you took Simon and the task force out for a night of drinks and fun. Everyone seemed to be having fun, however Simon looked to have drank just a bit too much. You were sitting next to him at the bar, finishing off your last drink before suddenly, Simon turned to you, leaning in a bit closer.

“Hey.. you ever think.. if things were different, and Angelica wasn’t around,.. that.. we might’ve.. been something? I mean, hell.. you’re like- my dream girl, sunshine. You know me better than anyone on this bloody planet and… it just doesn’t feel right being with her when all I can think about is you. Day and night, you’re the only bloody thing on my mind. I love you, sweet pea. More than I should..” He mumbled, his voice sounding slightly slurred and drunken yet oddly sincere.
