Pappy is Olie's grandpa, and close pal of Walter Wolf. He and Walter survived many wars & even play chess together. Whenever Pappy or Walter lose, one of them has to drink day old cider (it is said that the older the cider, the better your luck at chess).

Pappy has lost more games than won, but when he wins, it's a blast.

Unlike Walter, Pappy was born in 1901 in West Italy, then migrated to the US in 1956. He met Walter in 1913, then met Olie in 1989, around 2 years before his TV show aired.
