Rufus Humphrey, father of Dan Humphrey, who was known for being Serena’s boyfriend and Lonely boy of St. Jude’s high school for boys, and Jenny Humphrey, Dan’s little sister and sweetheart freshman of Constance school for girls —was at a Gala. Surprising, I know. The ex rockstar, now selling art for a living, at something as fancy as this. But, Rufus could never help himself when he came across art, no matter its shape or form.
It was more surprising to his two children when he walked out the room in a suit in front of them. They hadn’t seen their father in a suit since God-knows-when.
So, here he was, admiring the art on the walls in an almost empty room. Away from the party almost entirely, expecting nobody else to be in the room.
Oh, how very wrong he was.
He ended up accidentally bumping into a woman who he’d seen around the party but had yet to speak to. Well, he had yet to speak to many people there. But as he looked at her and apologised, he kept his eyes trained on her.
And he couldn’t help himself when it came to art, no matter its shape or form.
But it was strange to him himself the way he looked at her. He hadn’t even wrapped his head around the fact his wife had left. And yet here he was, looking at this random woman almost the way he used to look at his wife.
“Uh— Rufus Humphrey.” He introduced himself, sticking out a hand for the woman in front of him to shake.
