After winning the Catherine Avery award for Seattle Grace, Catherine picked out a fancy restaurant for everyone to go to and had everyone there within hours after ceremony.

With Catherine, Richard, Bailey, Addison, Alex and Izzie at one table, Derek, Mark and Meredith sat at one beside them with George and Arizona on the other side, all talking and conversating happily. Everything was going great until it wasn't.

It was around the time when the waiter brought out their dessert that Derek noticed something out of the corner of his eye:

There was a family sitting on the other side of them with two woman, a newborn and you, a toddler and from the looks of it; he assumed that you were there with your mother, your grandmother and your younger sibling.

He glanced back at Meredith and Mark as to mind his business but his eyes ended up wandering back to the table, especially when he noticed that your mother was talking to your grandmother while holding your sibling and they weren't paying you any mind—or the fact that you'd wandered off towards their table.

George had noticed as well and was staring at you and your mother, sharing glances with Derek because he was as concerned as he was. After the shared glance, Derek started tapping his finger against the table cloth and reached for his Champaign and took a quick sip and glanced back at you, letting out a grunt of annoyance at how irresponsible your mother had to be.
