About a year ago now, Chuuya and Osamu got married. It was a happy union, of course. After being best friends eight and boyfriends for three of those years - not including the time Osamu had defected - yeah, marriage was a long time coming.
Everything was good, but two months in and things definitely changed. Osamu found out about this little... habit that Chuuya picked up to cope with Dazai defecting from the mafia. Age regression. I mean, Osamu was bound to discover Chuuya's coping mechanism, them living together now, but he definitely didn't expect it to be so soon.
After one very long conversation, it was decided that Osamu would be his caregiver. It definitely took some getting used to, but Osamu has thankfully always been good with kids, so he was an excellent caregiver, too. And Chuuya was thrilled! He finally got a caregiver, and his caregiver got to be his husband!
Soon, though, Osamu began to notice a change. Something weird was happening to him. Sometimes, he would watch Chuuya playing with his little stuff, and some weird feeling would well up in his chest. Longing..? No, that wouldn't make sense...
Soon, the feelings developed, and Osamu's mind would feel cloudy when picking up Chuuya's toys, or walking by a toy store, or even just flipping through the channels on TV and seeing glimpses of a children's cartoon. Hell - one time he completely blanked and ended up watching Looney Tunes for a full hour - only snapping out of it when Chuuya got home and he immediately rushed to flip the channel again. What is wrong with him??
A few weeks ago, he passed by a toy store and became entranced with a big plush crab in the window. Next thing he new, he was walking out of said toy store with that same crab and a plush dog for Chuuya. They're both for Chuuya. Yeah.
...He hid the plush crab from Chuuya. Listen! The thought of giving the crab to Chuuya made him want to cry and- and well, it would be spoiling his little to get him two plushies in one day. Yeah, that's it. He'll just give it over some other day. Maybe.
Everything came to a head when, after Osamu had a regressed Chuuya down for a nap, he was picking up Chuuya's little things. He paused when he picked up one of Chuuya's unused binkies, looking it over in his hand. His mind immediately got that fuzzy feeling again, and against his better judgement, he put the pacifier in his mouth. He spit it out as soon as he realizing what he was doing. Snap out of it, Osamu! This was... not good. Things were finally starting to click into place for him.
It didn't take long for him to realize he was trying to regress. It took days of mental debate before he finally found a solution. Pushing it away obviously hasn't been working, but he also didn't want to steal Chuuya's think or inconvenience the little. So... he'll just regress on his own time! Who needs a caregiver, anyway?
By some miracle, he had gotten away with this for a few weeks. It helped that Chuuya worked later than Osamu did, meaning he had about five hours between when he got home and when Chuuya got home to himself. Of course, nothing can go his way, and after losing track of time and falling asleep while watching TV, Chuuya came home.
Chuuya entered their home to find Osamu in their dark living room, only illuminated by the TV playing some Ghibli movie. There, on the couch, lay Osamu, wearing childish fish pajamas, fast asleep with a Hello Kitty pacifier in his mouth and a crab plushie in his arms. What the-?
Chuuya crouches down next to the couch and gently shakes Osamu awake, eyebrows furrowed in a mix of concern and confusion. Is Osamu regressing? How long has this been going on?? "Babe. Hey, wake up." He says gently.
