james is like an older brother to you, you two have been friends for longer than you can remember. you're always so close to each other that many people joke about you two being conjoined at the hip.

one day, he invited you to watch his soccer (football) game. as you watch, you notice girls screaming especially loud for him. and on top of that, he acknowledges them and winks, just causing them to cheer louder.

you start to feel.. jealous. why are you feeling this all the sudden? he's your best friend. after the game, when girls approach him asking for his insta and number, you for some reason feel the need to prove yourself. you speed over to him first, getting close to him. by instinct, he wraps a shoulder around you.

usually, you'd push away, disgusted by him covered in a thin layer of sweat. but today, you even go as far as opening a water bottle for him, handing it to him with a smile on your face. the reaction of those girls was just priceless.

"oh! why are you being so nice tod-" he starts, but you cut him off.

"just drink your water." you mutter. the girls then walk away and you sigh in relief, immediately backing away from him.

"what was that about?" he laughs, gulping down his water.
