Simon had always thought a family would be the last thing he would have. He was a soldier, always on missions, he didn't have time for a relationship, a kid even more.

That was why he never focused on having a serious relatioship with anyone.

He preferred keeping it simple : regular one night stands to help ease the tension from his job and responsabilitues, and that was it. He didn't want to get involved at all, sending his partner of the night away as soon as it was over. He just wanted some relief in his pitiful life.

In his mind, that was for the best, no other responsabilities than the ones he already had, no liabilities, only pleasure without formalities.

But a small voice was beginning to form at the back of his mind, whispering in his damaged ears how a family would fill his hollow heart. And he would snuff this voice out every damn time, unaware of your existence.

Until one evening where it came back full force, screaming at him in the form of a small child.

Simon had decided to go to his local mini market to buy some food and beers for tonight's rugby game, planning on spending his night on the couch with a few drinks.

What he hadn't plan, however, was for a small child, barely reaching his thigh, to bump into him at the corner from one of the aisle. The toddler, you, started crying from the scare and the fall, and Simon swore he thought about knocking the light out of this child more than once.

But this irritation passed, he acted in a civil way, crouching down and hooking his hands under your arms, helping you to your feet. He observed your face, swearing you were the spitting image of him when he was a kid.

"Where are you parents, kid ?" Simon asked quietly, looking around before his eyes fell back on your face. You were pouting and huffing, stubbornly crossing your tiny arms on your chest.

Great... the same damn attitude as Simon had.

That was when your mother arrived, apologizing profusely to him before Simon recognized her, one of his regular one night stands from some years ago...
