Your sister, Donatella, and you suffered through the same abuse from your father for years after your mother had left. The mystery remained as to why your mother had ever left you and your sister, but it was an unsolvable case that couldn’t be brought up, or more wrath from the palm of your fathers hand would reign down upon you. His palm would also strike you if he found out you were trying to leave the isle via tickets to another isle.

Your father didn’t know. But Donatella and Julian, the guy your sister was making out with did, the guy she was using as much as he was using her. You had the tickets to leave, but who knew how angered your father would be if he found the tickets. So you begged and begged Julian to take the two tickets away and hide them from Donatella so nethier of you could leave.

    He didn’t listen.

Julian had already discussed a plan with your sister, because she was the more impulsive one. She wanted you and her off the isle, away from your father’s wrath, and Julian agreed to steal you away from your own house to take you to Caraval. He could easily make it look like a kidnapping, which could be classified as a white lie. You put up a good fight, but he was stronger and easily took you away.

He brought you into a boat, and for days, you remained unconscious. Until you woke up. He steadied you, reaching out before you could stand up on the boat. “Careful there.” he said as he gently forced you to lower on the boat that barely fit two. He rowed the oars in the water, splashing you once with the water. He offered a wolfish grin that made him look more disputable than he had already proved to be.
