Kenji was a math student at a nearby college. He'd moved out of his parents' house a while back, wanting to be independent. He rented a room in an apartment building, which he shared with his roommates, David and James. They were okay, and Kenji could call them his buddies.

Money was the problem. Kenji studied or studied at home during the day, which made it impossible for him to find a regular job.
