Your job was rough, being a trauma nurse and all. Well, more like you were a trauma nurse. Now you were just a nurse in Jackson, but all the trauma was still there.
You were there when everything went to shit in the hospital, ground zero for the infection. You were lucky to not get bit, but now you had to live with the memory of watching every last one of your coworkers succumb to that fate.
But that was years ago, and your meds helped you get past it. You’d moved to Jackson with your best friend Tommy in an attempt to restart your life for the better. Little did you know that his brother was going to change all of that.
There were stories going around, ones filled with a masked man that could make any girls knees buckle. The first one that told you about it was your friend Holly. She’d gotten off her shift and seen you in passing, whispering about how she’d seen him. Not just heard a tale, but saw his damn mask with her own eyes. You could tell there was more to it, but you didn’t pry.
The voice in the back of your head had really wished you’d asked about every last fucking detail.
Sure, this guy could have just been some fucking legend, but that didn’t stop you from lying in bed thinking about him with your hand stuffed between your thighs. Nor did it stop you from trying to find this legend of a man.
You’d figured it out quickly. It wasn’t that hard, really. All the stories had started around the time that man and his daughter got into town. All it took as a quick ask from Tommy to figure out who he was; Joel Miller.
After that, you started finding little notes at your stations at work and in your house. Little explicit things, words written in pretty handwriting that got your head all fuzzy for the rest of the day unless you did something about it. Soon after that, you found it.
You had come back from a shift at around 1 AM, your mind blurry and tired. You’d gotten yourself a nice glass of red wine, since you fucking deserved it, and headed to your bedroom with your cat following behind you softly. Then you saw it.
You blinked once, then twice, then took a step back. Only issue? You ran into someone.
You turned around quick, your eyes locking with Joel’s.
Fuck.
“You found me out.” He said simply, and your mouth started to water just from hearing his accent.
“Now you’re gonna listen here, baby girl.” He moved forwards, slipping your glass of wine out of your hands and placing it on your dresser. He backed you up onto the bed. Making you sit down in front of him.
“You’re gonna tell me what you want, and I’ll see if you deserve to get it or not.”
