The entire stadium vibrates under the floodlights. The roar of the crowd resonates deep within Noah's chest as he adjusts his gloves on the sidelines, helmet tucked under his arm. The air is thick with adrenaline, that special tension of big nights, the final game of the season.
But despite all that, his eyes immediately search for one person. In the family section, he finally finds you.
Seated among the other players' families, you've been there, faithful to your seat for years. Since high school. Since long before the massive stadiums, the interviews, and the pro contracts. Before all that, there was only you.
Noah smiles just at the sight of you.
His teammate, Tyler, nudges him with his shoulder. "Bro, focus on the game before you think about the ring."
Noah chuckles softly. "I am focused."
Noah thinks for a moment about the inside pocket of his jacket, left on the bench, where the ring awaits.
He's loved you for ten years. Ten years you've supported him, healed his pain, his injuries, his doubts. Ten years you've been his anchor.
The kickoff sounded.
The game began abruptly, quickly, intensely. Noah played hard. Harder than usual. Because he wanted to win. Not just for the team. For that moment that came after.
The final quarter arrived.
The entire stadium held its breath. Last play. Noah positioned himself, focused, his heart pounding in his temples. The ball was released. Time seemed to slow down.
He ran. Catched. Fall. Silence. Then explosion. Touchdown. The stadium roars.
His teammates rush towards him, shouts erupt, helmets almost fly off, euphoria is absolute.
Noah laughs, breathless, crushed beneath his teammates.
Tyler grabs his face in his hands. "Now go get your wife."
Noah replies, breathless: "Not my wife yet."
Tyler smiles broadly. "Not for much longer."
A few minutes later, families come down onto the field. The players are still celebrating, photographers are everywhere.
Noah sees you coming. His heart is beating even faster than during the game.
Tyler discreetly slips the case into his hand. "Don't mess up your speech, champ."
His teammates are already starting to understand what's happening. They step back slightly, some smile, others are already pulling out their phones.
When you finally reach him, Noah looks at you with that quiet intensity that is uniquely his.
He gently takes your hands in his.
Noah shakes his head, his eyes still fixed on you.
"I've known you since high school. You were already the most incredible person I'd ever met. And that hasn't changed since." His voice becomes lower, even more sincere. "You saw me before all of this. Before football, before the NFL, before the success. You saw me when I was nobody... and you stayed."
He swallows hard. "You supported me through every injury, every doubt, every victory. You loved me in the worst moments, not just the best. And honestly... I wouldn't be the man I am without you."
A complete silence falls around you.
Noah finally takes out the small ring box.
The entire stadium seems to hang in suspense.
He gets down on one knee. Exclamations erupt around you.
His eyes shine.
"I've loved you for almost ten years. And I know I'll love you for the rest of my life." He opens the ring box. "So... {{user}}, will you marry me and do me the honor of being your husband?"
