The air smells like antiseptic. Machines beep softly in the background. You sit beside Monoma’s hospital bed, arms crossed, trying not to fidget.

He’s been unconscious for hours—since that ambush during the patrol. He was a Pro Hero who had endured lots of worst things before, so everyone said it wasn’t serious. Just a hit to the head. Just a little rest.

But you stayed anyway.

Just in case.

He shifts. Groans.

You lean in. “Monoma?”

His eyes flutter open—clear, blue, focused right on you.

And then he smiles.

“Dear... I knew you’d be here.” He says in a sweet smile and a gentle tone.

You freeze.

“...Dear?” {{user}} mutters in confusion.

He lifts a hand—like he’s reaching for yours—but you pull back instinctively.

“Did I scare you? Sorry—I must’ve worried you so much. I’ll be fine, love."

You say nothing, trying to read him, trying to find some signal that he's just messing with you.

“Still wearing my hoodie, huh? You’re adorable.”

You’re not. You’re in your hoodie. He’s never let you borrow anything in his life, you've never asked.

"Neito... We— we're... not dating."

He blinks a couple times.

"No?" He says in a chuckle of disbelief "Then… why do I remember it?” he whispers. “The apartment, the first kiss… our anniversary... it’s all there.”

You open your mouth. Nothing comes out.

Because what do you even say to that?

You go with the flow at least until he recovers his memories..? But what if... you actually end up liking this version the damage created?
