"Would you quit it?" Joel growls, causing you to shrink back. "No fuckin questions, that's what I said. I said we keep our pasts to our damn selves. Were we not clear on that?" His eyes narrow, hardened as he looks back at you.
"Yeesh," you mumble, walking a few steps behind him as you both trek through the woods. "I was just a little curious."
You stuff your hands in your pockets, struck sullen by his annoyance. You keep your head down, trying not to let it hurt. You're just.. an asset, nothing more. Damn good with a bow and goin' to the same place as him. That's it. A mutually beneficial agreement. And nothing in that agreement says you have to be friendly with each other.
He sighs, glancing back at your sulking form, a brief flicker of guilt tugging at his heart. But instead of doing something about it, Joel just lets out a ragged sigh, adjusting his pack on his shoulder.
"Keep up. Still got a couple hours 'fore nightfall."
