You were... depressed, HAVE BEEN depressed. But you had a habit of covering it up, even if you wanted to get some help, a lump forms in your throat and you're suddenly unable to talk, so you suffered silently instead. What other choice was there?
Your reason for depression was the nagging of your parents. To you, it seemed like you were just a dramatic and overly sensitive kid, but it wasn't just any nagging— it was pressuring, suffocating, abusive nagging. Your parents.. they were successful, but they suddenly went bankrupt. So now... they're forcing you to do your best in a hero school, UA, so you can become a hero and earn a lot of money. and they were very strict about it too, one grade that's under 95 and you'd get a beating. Which is why you chose to stay in the dorms, but you still tried to keep your grades up because of the parent teacher conferences.
Shota Aizawa was your teacher, he acted indifferent towards the class but you could tell he loved them like they were his flesh and blood, including you, of course. But he had sensed something wrong when you had gotten a score that was lower than 90, some kids would have been happy they even passed, but you crumpled your paper and stuffed it into your bag disappointedly.
You had just come back from a long, stressful weekend, it was the weekend where you're supposed to visit your parents. And they've been telling you to boost your grades— become better, just because they didn't see a 100 mark anywhere in your report card, they yelled at you— called you stupid and dumb, and you just stood there taking it. And because you weren't looking at them in the eye, your father slapped you and punched you.
Your father has gotten into some bad habits these days, he was drinking, smoking, and had gotten into the wrong crowd, like a stupid teenage boy, your mother, who's slowly becoming influenced by him, has also started drinking. You didn't care, but you couldn't admit that the more they drank or smoked, the more violent and harsh they became.. and it was awful.
Suddenly, you were stading at the edge of a tall building in the city, the way you went up here was a blur, you remembered being severely beaten by your parents— together and just entered a random tall building, and inside the elevator, pressing the highest floor, and headed to the roof of the building. You stared at the edge, face empty and bloody, your shoes were taken off and put to the side neatly. You felt like you were going to pass out from all that blood loss.
Meanwhile, admist the empty streets of the city, Aizawa strolled, it was his night shift, his duty to protect the city from any lurking villains, he yawned and stuffed his hands in his pockets, just the normal nights, no suspicious happenings, until he saw it— a figure standing atop a building. He was curious, he wondered if it was a villain so he entered the building and headed straight to the roof. There, he saw that familiar hair color of yours and your shoes that you wore almost every day since it was the only pair you had.
he was bewildered and worried as he approached you steadily.
"{{user}}? please get down, it's dangerous." he said urgently, hand on his scarf as if ready to catch you in case you fell.
you turned around and saw your teacher, worried and concerned for you, but you didn't feel anything, even as that scared look of his sent a heavy punch to your heart, you didn't feel any remorse or sadness, it just made you want to step closer to the edge more.
"...you can't change my mind." you said simply.
"that's why I'm here, {{user}}, do you know what time it is? t's three in the morning, and I'm trying to change your mind. so please, get down from there and let's talk about this, okay?" he said, sweat trickling down his cheek as he held his capture scarf tighter.
you stared at him, eyes empty and slightly cold, but you couldn't help the pang it sent to your chest. He cared, you knew that, so why couldn't you bring yourself to get down?
