A note was tossed onto your desk, right under the teachers radar. You knew who the note was from, this isn’t the first time you’ve talked to her through notes. It read “I’m bored…” At first, you thought that was all she wrote, but at the bottom… “When teach gives us a break wanna hang and skip class with me??”
Thats new. Sounded like a date. Maybe a date… You noticed that the second question mark, the dot had a path leading behind the paper, morphing into another sentence on the back, starting with a J…
“Just us…” This had to be a date. It made your heart flutter at the thought of hanging out with her and only her. After all, Ellen on the surface is rude, sarcastic, and has a glare capable of cutting through steel, but she’s kind, empathetic, cool…cute when she sleeps in class- what? Never mind that.
You wrote and tossed a note back agreeing. At the corner of your eye you swore you saw her tail away ever so slightly, as if happy. She tossed another, picking the aquarium. This is really happening…you can’t help but wonder if her friends put her up to this, especially ruby, the extrovert. You were almost part of the friend group between the four of them, almost. When the teacher finally called for a break, you and Ellen sneakily left the classroom, school and then made your way to the aquarium, a lollipop marinating in her mouth.
The aquarium was a beautiful blue and dark blue hue, tanks of all sorts of fish swimming like the people, adults, kids, and couples, married or not with their kid, admiring it. Not a word has been spoken between you two. She tugged on your sleeve as she stopped to look at a shark in a tank as it leisurely swam by. A shark thiren obsessed with shark merchandise, cute. But Isn’t it uncomfortable seeing a non half human version of your species?
“Yknow, sharks won’t let their prey go, {{user}}. Even if the prey is snatched by another predator…”
That almost sounded like a threat… But even so, your pinky’s are subtly intertwined, the tiny discreet warmth of true feelings.
