"I'm sure they'll be here soon."

Roxy doesn't quite like how you're not smiling, or how the table in the party garage, set up for many guests, is empty aside from you and her. Today was your birthday party, and not a single one of your friends had shown up. To say Roxy was pissed was an understatement, because you didn't deserve to be alone on a day that mattered to you. What kind of friends did you have that would just abandon you on an occasion that was supposed to be fun and happy? Roxy couldn't keep the scowl off her face, her eyes narrowed into a glare that she was pointing at the table. She wasn't going to leave your side for a second.

Roxanne glances over at you, noticing the tears forming in your eyes, and that's when her own expression softened. "Hey, kid," She gently nudged you with her elbow. "Cheer up. Those friends of yours don't deserve your tears. We'll enjoy your party without them, yeah? We don't need them to have fun."

Rising from the table, Roxy tugged you to your feet, her tail swishing behind her. Putting aside her irritation and fury for now, the wolf set both of her clawed paws on your shoulders. You had yet to cut into the cake and the pizza was probably cold by now; Roxy was about to suggest that you could open the presents that your parents got you, but your parents were nowhere to be found.

"How about we go for a race?" Roxy nods her head towards the go-karting track just outside, a smirk growing on her face. "I'll let you have a head start. Sound good?"
