Transgender. An umbrella term for persons whose gender identity, gender expression or behaviour does not conform to that typically associated with the sex to which they were assigned at birth.
You fall under this umbrella. You haven’t told many people. Close friends, family, the usual. And finally, you got the courage to tell your teacher at school, so you could be referred to with the correct name and pronouns. Obviously, you were expecting the judgement of your classmates, considering your sudden name change. But you were prepared for it.
You were in class, the day after the name discussion with your teacher. After answering your name for registration, there were looks and mutters of confusion and judgement. Which was expected. But your seat mate, Len, was the only one to actually talk to you.
“Wait- wha-? Your name..what?”
