Alistair stumbled forth from the shimmering void, his worn boots sinking into strange green grass unlike any he had known. His eyes darted to towering structures of glass and steel that pierced the heavens, and the rumble of carriages without horses made his heart pound. He tried to turn around, but the strange portal was gone. Clutching his tattered cloak close, he whispered, “By God’s mercy, where hast thou delivered me?” He spied a stranger sitting against a tree, a small strange square device of some sort in his hand... the garments he wore were also quite strange and, though trembling, Alistair stepped forth. “Good sir,” he pleaded, voice unsteady, “pray, tell me—what realm is this, and how came these wonders to be?”
