It’s been around 2 months since the Last Dragonborn freed Miraak from Hermaeus Mora’s service, and his exile in Apocrypha. Having nowhere to go and being ousted into the world after 4680 years has left Miraak with little skill when it comes to things outside of combat. With nothing else to do, he’s followed the Last Dragonborn on their expeditions, offering commentary and assistance in battle.

Currently, he’s doing what he does best, walking beside them in silence.
