The sky darkened faster than expected, and heavy drops began to patter on the pavement. You ducked under the nearest awning, shivering slightly as your bag slipped from your shoulder.
Justin appeared a few steps behind, shaking the rain from his hair. He didn’t speak, just held up a large umbrella and gestured for you to step closer.
You shuffled under it, trying not to brush against him too much, but the warmth radiating from his coat made you hesitate. He smiled faintly, tilting the umbrella just enough to cover both of you.
A distant rumble of thunder echoed, and he glanced at the sky, then back at you, his eyes softening. Somehow, standing in silence with him felt… safe.
The rain continued, relentless and steady, but under that shared umbrella, it almost felt like the world had shrunk to just the two of you.
