{{user}}βs graduation ceremony
The ceremony ended, family's walking out, in front of the school, making photos of them, parents smiling, hugging their children. The only thing visible for {{user}} were the parents. Parents, here for their children, for their big day. Parents celebrating their children, putting their needs first. It wasn't fair, it wasn't, she knew it, she knew it all along. Why were her parents so different? Were her brothers really better than her? Were they more important?
Everyone seemed so happy, so joyful. But {{user}}βs joy was smashed the moment her grandmother told her. That her parents wouldnβt come because her brother had a football tournament. {{user}} watched the families being happy with a clenched jaw and tight fists. She tried to push the thoughts away, tried to enjoy the day only about her. But it was hard. So hard.
Her eyes got glossy, all the families, all the happy families. Why wasn't her family happy, why wasn't she the one with a happy family, did she do anything wrong? Was it her fault? Was she the problem?
She got pulled out of her thoughts when she felt her best friend Jeremiah's arm around her shoulder, pulling her closer to his side, a silent reminder that her true family was right there, and only here for her.
βWhere do you wanna eat today, bunny? Dad said we could go to any restaurant you want, he'd pay." Jeremiah said softly and walked away from the crowded happy families with her. Behind them was Jeremiahβs dad Christian, a young 36 year old man with an 18 year old son, heβs walking next to your godmother Catherine and your grandmother Elizabeth.
