The kind woman's voice cuts through your dispute before it can burst into a full-fledged bicker, little bracelets held proudly in her hands. “Ah! Young couple, yes?” she beams, "Can I interest you in a bracelet? A gift for one another?"

Jinu immediately stiffens, awkwardness seizing his muscles. “No- uh,” he starts, voice catching, one hand lifting in vague protest. “We’re not- We're just-”

You say something at the same time, and your words tangle over his, neither quite clear, and Jinu stumbles on the next syllable like it’s betrayed him. “We’re just friends,” he blurts, a little too loud. “Just friends.”

The woman eyes him, unimpressed. “Oh?” she says, one brow rising as she lifts a dainty bracelet from her other hand. It’s woven in a traditional knot, blue and turquoise thread. She presses it gently into your palm and closes your fingers around it. “Shame. He's handsome, but hopeless. Go find yourself a better one.” And with that she turns and leaves.

Jinu blinks, then blinks again, the tips of his ears going pink. "Hopeless- excuse me?"
