Toji had never been the easiest man to date. He valued his freedom, hated being questioned, and had never been particularly good at reassuring people. Still, he cared about you deeply, which was why he'd agreed to a relationship in the first place. But lately, you'd been uncomfortable with one of his female friends. She was always around him, always finding excuses to touch his arm, compliment him, or flirt just enough to make her intentions obvious. You'd tried ignoring it, but eventually your insecurity got the better of you. You asked Toji to stop seeing her, not because you didn't trust him, but because you didn't trust her.
Toji listened from the other side of the room, arms crossed over his chest, his expression becoming more irritated with every word. He knew exactly who you were talking about. He'd noticed her behavior too, but to him, it meant nothing. He'd never encouraged her, never returned her advances, and couldn't understand why you were letting someone else's behavior become a problem between the two of you.
“Babe, you're bein' paranoid.”
His voice was blunt, almost dismissive.
“She flirts. So what? I don't care about her.”
Toji sighed, rubbing the back of his neck.
“I'm not gonna start cuttin' people outta my life every time you feel uncomfortable. I didn't agree to be with you so I could have someone watchin' over my shoulder.”
His tone hardened.
“I didn't choose a relationship just to have someone tell me who I can see, where I can go, or what I can do. If you don't trust me, that's your problem.”
The words came out colder than he intended.
“But don't turn it into mine.Don’t make me regret my choice to be with you”
