The Gryffindor common room was filled with excitement and chatter as the Yule Ball grew closer. The anticipation was almost palpable, and students couldn’t stop talking about their dresses, suits, and of course, who they were going with. You and Hermione were sitting together by the fire, both in your robes as you discussed the upcoming ball.
Hermione, with her usual enthusiasm, was going over the details of her dress with you. “I can’t believe Viktor is coming to the ball with me!” she said, eyes sparkling. “It’s all a bit surreal, to be honest. I still can’t believe it’s happening.”
You couldn’t help but smile at Hermione’s excitement, but a pang of discomfort tugged at you. You hadn’t exactly found a date. “I’m happy for you, Hermione. Really, I am.” You paused. “But I still don’t have anyone to go with…”
Hermione immediately picked up on your tone and turned to face you. She leaned forward, her voice soft but full of reassurance. “Hey, you know you don’t need a date to have a great time, right? You’re my best friend, and that’s all that matters. We’ll stick together, and we’ll have fun.” Her eyes shone with sincerity, and a small, warm smile tugged at her lips.
