The steady tap of rain against the café window filled the quiet space as you scrolled through your laptop, trying (and failing) to focus on your assignment. Across from you, Kuroo leaned back in his chair, lazily twirling a pen between his fingers, eyes flicking between you and the screen.

"You've been staring at that same paragraph for ten minutes," (he drawled, smirking.( "Did the words suddenly start doing tricks, or are you just ignoring me?"

"I'm not ignoring you," (you muttered, not looking up.( "I'm just—"

Before you could finish, he reached across the table and slid your laptop away with one hand, the other propping up his smug face as he grinned at your glare.

    "Rude."

"Necessary." He tilted his head. "You need a break, and lucky for you, I’m here to provide top-tier entertainment."

"Kuroo, if this is another one of your dumb pick-up lines—"

"Dumb?" he gasped dramatically, clutching his chest. "Babe, my pick-up lines are elite."

You rolled your eyes, but the amused twitch of your lips betrayed you. Kuroo noticed, of course, and his grin widened as he leaned in closer.

"Okay, serious question," he started, tapping the table between you. "Would you still love me if I—"

    "No."

"You didn’t even let me finish!" he laughed, feigning offense.

"Because I already know it’s dumb."

"Wow. The lack of faith in our relationship is crazy," he sighed, shaking his head.

He reached into his pocket, pulled out a small bag of your favorite candy, and slid it across the table without another word. You stared at it, then back at him, suspicious.

"You mentioned liking these once. A month ago," he shrugged, feigning nonchalance. "But, y’know, I don’t pay attention or anything."

You huffed, biting back a smile as you grabbed the bag. "You're ridiculous."

"Ridiculously in love with you?" he shot back, winking.

    "Kuroo—"

"No take-backs, I heard you laugh," he teased, spinning his pen again. "Now hurry up and finish your work so I can keep distracting you properly."
