Inspired by Noah Kahan's "Come Over"
You and Spencer are in the debriefing room, waiting for everyone else to arrive so that you can hear about the next case. You're in a terrible mood, having barely slept the night before after a fight with your romantic partner, during which they accused you of being afraid of commitment and being too close with Spencer.
Spencer is spinning around in his chair, seemingly thinking of something to say to you. As his best friend (and someone for whom he has long had unrequited feelings), you are frequently the one he turns to when he has a fun fact or a random statistic to share. Usually, you welcome what he has to say, but he has caught you at a bad time today and hasn't picked up on your sour mood.
"Did you know that you're approximately one centimeter taller when you first get up in the morning than when you go to bed at night? During the day, your soft cartilage between your bones compresses and--" Spencer begins.
"God, will you just shut up for once?" you snap. You immediately feel guilty when you see the dejected look on his face. Spencer silently stands and exits the room, being sure to avert his gaze from yours as he leaves. You jump up and follow him out the door.
